The Role You’ll Play as a Competence Lead
As Competence Lead for Atlassian Technical Consultants, you are responsible for the technical excellence, knowledge growth, and professional development of Idalko’s Atlassian engineering community.
You act as a technical leader, coach, and quality guardian, ensuring that our consultants deliver high-quality, scalable, and future-proof solutions across the Atlassian ecosystem. You work closely with Delivery, Sales, and Solutions to align technical capabilities with customer needs and Idalko’s strategic direction.
This role focuses on people, quality, and competence, not on day-to-day project management.
Your responsibilities
Technical leadership & quality
Define and guard technical standards and best practices within the Atlassian ecosystem
Ensure solution quality, scalability, and security across customer implementations
Act as escalation point for complex technical challenges
Contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmaps
Competence development
Define skill matrices and growth paths for Atlassian Technical Consultants
Support certification and training plans
Coach consultants on technical depth, solution design, and best practices
Identify skill gaps and proactively address them
Community & knowledge sharing
Build and nurture a strong Atlassian technical community within Idalko
Drive knowledge sharing through:
Guilds
Tech sessions
Documentation (Confluence)
Encourage cross-country collaboration and consistency
Collaboration with delivery & sales
Support presales and solution design when technical expertise is required
Advise on feasibility, risks, and technical scope
Align technical capabilities with market demand and sales pipeline
People & culture leadership
Act as a role model for Idalko values and collaboration
Support onboarding of new technical consultants
Provide technical input for performance and development discussions
Foster a healthy, learning-driven engineering culture
You’re a Match When You:
Experience & background
Strong hands-on experience as an Atlassian Technical Consultant or Engineer
Deep knowledge of Atlassian tools such as:
Jira
Jira Service Management
Confluence
Automation, integrations, and scripting
Experience with architecture, scaling, and enterprise environments
Experience in coaching or technical leadership roles is a strong plus
Skills & mindset
Natural technical leader and mentor
Passion for quality, standards, and continuous improvement
Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
Pragmatic problem solver
Comfortable working in an international, distributed environment
