The IT department is responsible for and designs the entire IT of the City of Munich. We ensure that IT provision meets the city's current and future needs. We drive the digitalization of the city of Munich and play a pioneering role. Our work and our services make the city of Munich a digital metropolis that sets standards that its employees are proud of.
As part of the IT department, we ensure a modern IT and telecommunications infrastructure, implement professional IT solutions and secure the IT operations of the City of Munich with over 1,200 employees in our own company it@M.
What you can expect
Your tasks will include the operation, design, development, commissioning, documentation and support of existing and new software. You will be responsible for life cycle management, 3rd level support and coordination with the external companies whose software we use.
You will be in contact with our customers and support them with questions about the IT systems we support. The focus of the job is on the operation and further development of software (e.g. open source software). You will ensure the stability of the IT systems and ensure that faults are rectified quickly. The software is continuously developed in an agile project.

You have
- a successfully completed university degree in the field of computer science, administrative informatics or business informatics or
- a successfully completed university degree and
- several years (at least two years) of professional experience in the IT sector or equivalent skills and experience
In particular, you bring with you
- Specialist knowledge: several years (at least two years) of experience in software development with PHP, experience in dealing with lifecycle management or IT service processes, good knowledge of current technologies, e.g. with regard to architecture, design and implementation of software solutions, Linux / Windows server administration, experience with GIT
- Result and goal orientation, in particular technical problem-solving skills
- Cooperation and conflict skills, in particular the ability to deal with conflicts
The following are an advantage
- Practical experience with the use of open source software
- practical experience with agile project management (SCRUM)
- Practical experience in Java
