My client is a well-established, family-owned intellectual property company based in Belgium, close to Brussels, managing and developing a globally recognized entertainment and publishing universe.
The organization employs close to 50 people and maintains a strong SME culture: hands-on, agile, and collaborative.
The Studio department plays a central role in safeguarding the artistic integrity of the IP while supporting its commercial expansion. The creation of the Head of Studio position aims to strengthen structure, operational excellence, and economic performance within this department.
Your responsibilities
As part of the Executive Committee, you'll act as the operational and managerial leader of the Studio and Approvals teams (representing roughly 15 people).

Operational Leadership & Organization
Ensure timely delivery of all creative and approval outputs (scenarios, illustrations, 3D assets, storyboards, validations, etc.) required for licensing, publishing, audiovisual, and production activities
Establish clear and realistic production schedules aligned with business and commercial priorities
Set limits on iterations and maintain balance between artistic excellence and business feasibility
Implement and optimize internal processes, planning tools, and workload management systems

Economic Oversight & Performance
Define and monitor project budgets and progressively the overall budget of the department
Allocate internal and external resources according to financial impact and ROI
Maintain a pragmatic economic view: align quality expectations with project scale (from €10K projects to multi-million initiatives)
Provide structured reporting to the Executive Committee

Business Interface & External Representation
Act as the key interface between the Studio and commercial/licensing teams
Translate business requirements into operational and creative priorities
Ensure alignment between client expectations, artistic standards, and internal capacity
Represent the Studio in client meetings and, occasionally, at international fairs and industry events (up to 3 times per year)

Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop three senior managers, their teams and freelancers
Manage communication between artistic and commercial stakeholders
Foster collaboration, accountability, and shared objectives
Support skill development and professional growth within the Studio

Artistic Sensitivity
Demonstrate sufficient artistic sensibility to interact credibly with Art Directors and creative experts
Encourage creative excellence while ensuring operational discipline
Maintain awareness of industry trends and technological evolutions
Your profile
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in one of the following sector : Animation studio, production company, creative agency, licensing environment, or similar
Experience managing senior creative professionals
Background in SME environments preferred over large corporate structures
Strong diplomatic and communication skills (able to engage both artists and commercial stakeholders)
Advanced budget and workforce management
Fluent French and English is a must.
Additional languages are a plus
