Scientist (Light-Activated DNA Chemistry) - Qplox engineering
  • Leuven
description du poste

Are you passionate about cutting-edge chemistry and advanced synthesis technologies? We are looking for a Research Scientist to advance light-driven oligonucleotide synthesis through innovative photochemical optimization and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Your Mission

You will play a key role in developing and optimizing light-directed oligonucleotide synthesis processes, enabling rapid, efficient, and spatially confined photochemical reactions. This role bridges chemistry, materials science, and system integration to support next-generation synthesis platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Characterize and optimize photochemical and chemical parameters to enable robust light-directed oligonucleotide synthesis
  • Investigate and analyze material properties to precisely control light exposure and confine photochemical reactions
  • Define technical specifications for integrating photochemical reactions into tool architectures, from intermediate prototypes to scaled-up system models
  • Lead and coordinate oligonucleotide library synthesis activities, including:
  • Performance evaluation and quality control
  • Cross-validation with external partners and service providers
  • Oversight of deprotection, release, formulation, and packaging processes

Your Profile

  • Strong academic background in Chemistry; hands-on experience in Materials Science or Photochemistry is a strong asset
  • Proven expertise in DNA synthesis, analysis, or related biochemical workflows
  • Genuine passion for laboratory research and experimental innovation
  • Self-motivated team player who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment combining biology, chemistry, photonics, and micro-electronics
  • Excellent written and spoken English
