System Architect for Collaborative Combat Solution
Mission:
As part of the engineering group of THALES Belgium, the System Architect for Collaborative Combat Solutions will be involved in the development and support of state-of-the-art systems designed on site at THALES Belgium. He or she shall participate to the definition of Telecommunication, Command and Control solutions with Customers and other different Stakeholders up to its integration into Customer environment.
The System Architect for Collaborative Combat Solutions will perform key aspects of Systems Engineering and IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification) for integration into military and civilian environments.
The System Architect for Collaborative Combat Solutions needs to be a technical passionate. Based on his/her previous expertise in electronics, IT or telecommunication systems, he/she will be eager to discover new technologies.
Main Responsibilities:
Understand and analyse the Customer’s needs;
Find the best solution and support the architecture definition to meet the customer requirements;
Interface with the Customer, for the technical related aspects of the solution;
Bring state of the art expertise for his/her field of expertise, specialty or domain;
Defines and proposes for the related level (solution or solution element) candidate architectures allowing to meet stakeholders’ expectations in compliance with standardisation and reuse policies, technology roadmap and business strategy.
Establishes the solution architecture through trade-offs between stakeholders’ expectations, technical & technological solutions and cost, risks and schedule, documents associated artefacts and approves resulting lower level specifications (whether internal or external).
Contributes to the solution development cycle and co-engineering approach definition.
Leads along the project life cycle for the related level requirements’ allocation, management of performance assessment and critical parameters.
Profile:
Engineering degree in Electronics / Computer Science / Telecommunications or a related field (with a minimum of 10 years of working experience);
Knowledges or curious to learn about sensors, effectors and means of communication for vehicles, drones and robots to provide protection, observation, local combat situation monitoring, command systems, augmented reality, decision support tools, interoperability;
Experience with full development cycle (e.g. requirements engineering, design, development, test, integration);
Experience in end-to-end designing (architecture), 3rd party integration and prototyping electronics/IT systems;
Relevant experience in system integration into electronics/IT platforms and understanding of the integration impacts;
Experience with requirements management tools and processes, such as Doors or Polarion;
Experience with modelling tools, such as Capella or Enterprise Architect;
Familiarity with work management solutions, such as Jira or Redmine;
Passionate for technologies, continuing education and problem solving;
Customer satisfaction and results oriented;
Team player;
Pragmatic, assertive and well organized;
Ability to work independently when needed and be proactive;
Innovative and creative mindset;
Good communication skills, both verbally and written. Fluency in English (B2) is mandatory. Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is desirable;
Demonstrated initiative to learn new technologies, analytical and problem-solving skills;
